After spending 2 years on an amazing Game of Thrones project. I'm now back on another adventure, one that started probably 30 years ago.

But still, I cannot even believe I worked with HBO on a Game of Thrones AAA video game.

I read the first books when they came out and most of the artbooks about the lore and the amazing imagination from George RR Martin.

Marek Olejarz was born in Poland in 1976. His parents fled from Eastern Europe to the magnificent Andalusian region of Algeria. They came to Montreal a few years later after a short stay In Ottawa. Marek considers himself a Canadian of adoption while remaining proud of his European origins.

Being an imaginative and creative child, Marek won the first prize in a drawing competition organized by the City of Montreal, "The House of the Future". He was 10 years old. During the following years, drawing, mathematics, and reading will fuel his curiosity and his education. Solitary by nature and as much interested in modern writers as by classical artists, his evenings are spread between Mann, Waterhouse, Nabokov, Chekhov or Dumas.

After a professional debut in cartoons for television, Marek turned his attention to video games where he still works as an Art Director. Beside his activities in his workplace, he has given interviews for various newspapers such as LaPresse, or Painter, and has been hosting artistic narration workshops at the University of Montreal.

One of my fondest childhood memories was receiving oil paintings as a birthday gift from my grandmother in Poland. Fascinated by the artistic freedom it sparked a passion, which later developed into a career.

Putting an idea on paper is not only a magical experience but also a real craft that can be shared with friends, co-workers or clients.

For over fifteen years, I've been an Art Director at Behaviour, a successful independent game studio in Montreal. I’ve had the pleasure to work on inspiring projects with extremely talented co-workers on some of the most recognizable brands around the world.

I’m honoured and thrilled to be currently working on the development of another AAA mobile game. I sincerely hope that we will be able to share our vision with all the fans shortly.

Inspiration comes in many shapes and forms. Sometimes it grows on you for days and other times just a spark, a moment of pure joy, and all which is best captured with my Nikon D600 ;)

For as long as I can remember, photography has always been an integral part of my life. Like all art forms, which developed into a passion, it entails patience, practice and a curiosity.

But above all, it's our curiosity that makes this craft unique and so personal. My Nikon has followed me around the world and here are some of those memories.
In so many ways motion graphics incorporate in one final piece everything I like in the media industry. An effective movie clip is a combination of animation, timing, special effects, graphics, drawings, typography, music, sound effects, good design and deep thinking.

I used motion graphics as animatic, key arts, communication tools, key art to sell projects or just as personal motivation.

At the same time, User interfaces are a result of years of user experience; the ability to understand human behaviours, their impacts on the visuals pillars and our effective interactions with technology.

Mastering both always was a challenge, an objective and a learning process.
Thanks to Behaviour and all my involvement with Artemedia, I was lucky enough to meet amazing clients from inspiring studios all around the world.
